UK Student Visa Process (Tier 4 Visa)

Follow these steps to successfully apply for a UK student visa.

1. Receive an Offer from a UK Institution

  • Apply to a UK university or college and receive a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) once accepted.

2. Check Eligibility

  • Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements, including proving your English language proficiency, financial stability, and having a valid passport.

3. Gather Required Documents

  • A valid passport.
  • Your CAS statement.
  • Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL scores).
  • Bank statements or financial documents showing you can support yourself during your studies.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) test results (if applicable).

4. Complete the Online Application

  • Fill out the online visa application form (VAF) on the UK government website.

5. Pay the Visa Fee

  • Pay the application fee (which varies depending on the length of your stay) and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) for access to the National Health Service (NHS).

6. Biometric Appointment

  • Book and attend a biometric appointment at a visa application center to provide your fingerprints and photo.

7. Submit Your Application

  • Submit your application along with all required documents either online or at the visa application center.

8. Await a Decision

  • Wait for a decision on your visa application. The processing time typically takes around 3 weeks, but it can vary.

9. Receive Your Visa

  • If approved, you will receive a visa vignette in your passport, allowing you to enter the UK. This is usually valid for 30 days.

10. Collect Your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)

  • Once in the UK, collect your BRP from your designated location within 10 days of arrival. This document serves as proof of your right to stay in the UK.

Additional Tips
